Encrypted No account Deletes itself

Share a password securely, without leaving it in your chat history

When you paste a password into a chat or an email, it stays there: in your history, in theirs, in backups, on every device that syncs. A one-time link is gone after it’s read.

How to send a password safely

  1. Paste the password into the box above.
  2. Tick “Delete after it’s opened once” and choose 1 hour.
  3. Save text, then send the link in your usual chat or email.

Also tick Hide it before saving, so the password shows as dots on screen; the other person can use Copy text without it ever appearing.

The recipient opens the link, copies the password, and the link stops working.

What makes it safe

  • Encrypted before it leaves your device. Your browser locks the password with a new random key. We store only the locked version.
  • The key never reaches us. It’s part of the link, after the #, which browsers never send to a website. Without the full link, nobody can read it: not us, and not anyone who breaks into our servers.
  • One look, then gone. With “Delete after it’s opened once”, the stored copy is deleted when the recipient opens it. A link preview in a chat app doesn’t count: they see “Open this text?” first.
  • A time limit as backup. If nobody opens it, it still expires at the time you chose.

Tips for extra care

  • Send the username another way, for example in a separate message, so the link alone isn’t enough.
  • If the recipient says the link didn’t work, someone may have opened it first. Change the password and send a new link.
  • Ask the recipient to save it in a password manager right away, rather than leaving it in the browser.

What this doesn’t protect against

No link-sharing tool can protect a password from a device that’s already compromised, or from someone who has your chat open. And once the recipient has seen the password, they can of course copy it. Share it only with people you trust.

Questions

Is it safe to send a password with ClipPigeon?

It’s much safer than chat or email. The password is encrypted in your browser, our server can’t read it, and with “Delete after it’s opened once” the link stops working after the first opening.

What if someone else opens the link first?

Then your recipient will see that the link no longer works, and you’ll know it was intercepted. Change the password and send a new link.

Can a link preview in a chat app use up the one-time link?

No. Opening the link shows “Open this text?” first, and the text is only deleted when someone actually chooses to open it.

How long does the link work if nobody opens it?

Until the time you chose: 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days or 30 days. For passwords, choose 1 hour.

Do I or the recipient need an account?

No. Neither of you needs an account or an app.
